What to Look for in an Acting Manager

X No momagers.

Their kid always comes 1st which I respect as a person but not ideal for my team.

X No ultimatums.

X No teams.

I want 1 manager not 2. You’d think it’d make them more efficient but it ends up being the opposite

X Communication poor after only 3 months

X They cast their clients in their production company’s projects

X They recommend bad coaches

X I have to explain gender VS sexuality to them

X I have to explain Hispanic VS Latina (and Latine) to them

O They have actual connects, they don’t just submit me on casting sites to see what fits️

O They want a business friendship, not a toxic familial one️

O They tailor communication style to the client (very helpful for my ADHD)️

O They respect my boundaries and bookout dates (unless it’s a big opportunity, then let’s chat!)️

O They get what to do with my unique type ️

O They have a 3 month + 6 month + 1 year plan️

O When I ask if they know publicists, they immediately give me a list️

O They answer my questions on the industry️

O If they wanna rep me for modeling & acting they need high fashion knowledge / connects️

O Same beliefs (political & social)️

O They’re willing to do a trial period before signing a contract to make sure we’re a good long-term fit️

O They drop the wall after a reasonable amount of time.

(i.e. They invite me to their bday party after being my manager for 10 yrs and vice-versa. But doing that off the rip year 1 makes me think they don’t have good boundaries.)
